Andrea Chan, MD

I am an orthopaedic-trained adult and pediatric hand and upper extremity surgeon employed at The Hospital for Sick Children (HSC) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am an academic surgeon and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. My Orthopaedic Surgery clinical practice focuses on wrist & upper extremity trauma, congenital and acquired deformities, sports wrist and neuromuscular disorders. Academically, I have orthopaedic-specific research experience in clinical outcomes and quality improvement studies, wrist biomechanics and basic science research with multiple publications and involvement in ongoing research related to both pediatric and adult hand/upper extremity orthopaedic surgical care. My ongoing research interests focus on wrist and upper extremity trauma, including optimization of hospital workflow and quality improvement for the streamlined delivery of care for pediatric elbow and wrist fractures and adult distal radius fractures, as well as clinical/patient-reported outcomes for complex pediatric elbow traumatic and post-traumatic reconstruction.
