Yvette Elias

Yvette Elias is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist at Nicklaus Childrens Hospital.  She serves as part of the brachial plexus team at NCH, assisting with the collaboration of specialized care amongst patients with a brachial plexus injury. She has served 34 years as an Occupational Therapist across some of Miami's leading hospitals.  Throughout her career she has worked with adults and children with a variety of physical disabilities. Presently she is focusing on pediatric orthopedic hand and upper extremity conditions, with advanced work in the area of Brachial Plexus Injuries. She has advanced training and certifications in the areas of Constraint Induced Movement Therapy, NDT, and Aquatic Therapy, which she uses, when appropriate, in the care of patients with a brachial plexus injury.  Yvette was a contribuing author for the chapter on pediatric orthoses in the texbook Introduction to Orthotics.  Additionally, she has aided in the advancement of brachial plexus care through education.  She has presented in the first international pediatric conference held in Milan.  She has been a recurrent speaker for the Lorna Ramos Brachial Plexus conference which has been offered nationally and internationally in the past.  She has contributed to research presented in the American Association for Hand Surgery, focusing on serial external rotation casting.  She is passionate about her profession and advocates daily for her profession within the hospital by helping to expand the hand and brachial plexus service line across NCH outpatient facilities, as well as standardizing care through the development of department wide competencies and protocols.
