Todd Levy

Todd J. Levy is a clinical specialist in occupational therapy at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where he has focused on brain injury and hand therapy for 21 years. Mr. Levy is lead OT for CHOP’s interdisciplinary Stroke Clinic, Rett Syndrome Center of Excellence, and Angelman Syndrome Clinic. As lead therapist for the first successful bilateral hand transplantation in a child, Mr. Levy developed and implemented an innovative interdisciplinary rehabilitation plan to maximize the surgical outcomes. His knowledge translation work has included implementing Hand-arm Bimanual Intensive Therapy in an ambulatory care setting and educating caregivers and professionals on evidence-based rehabilitation. Mr. Levy assisted in the development of the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists’ (ACBIS) Advanced Practice in Neurorehabilitation certification program, and he served two terms on the ACBIS Board of Governors. His early career laboratory work at Washington University School of Medicine culminated in the first study to demonstrate neural protective effects of brain derived neurotrophic factor on both brain tissue and behavior. His current research is focused on the effects of unilateral perinatal stroke on the “unaffected” hand, and on rhythmic auditory stimulation for Rett Syndrome.
