Karen Ayala, MSOT, CHT
Karen Ayala, MS, OTR/L, CHT has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Radford University and a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University. Karen has been an Occupational Therapist since 1996 and a Certified Hand Therapist since 2001. After many years of practicing in adult hand therapy, Karen made the transition to pediatric hand therapy in 2013. Karen served as a pediatric hand therapist at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, TX from 2013-2015. Since 2015, Karen has been an occupational therapist and pediatric hand therapist at Central Texas Pediatric Orthopedics. Karen specializes in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric orthopedic hand and upper extremity injuries, overuse injuries, joint hypermobility, and juvenile arthritis, as well as congenital hand conditions. She is skilled in pediatric orthosis fabrication, therapeutic exercise, activity evaluation and modification, and handwriting evaluation and intervention. In her spare time, Karen enjoys long-distance running and spending time with her husband and three children.
