Jose Xavier Lucio, MOTR/L, CHT

Xavier Lucio graduated from University of North Dakota in 2005, and has since worked as an Occupational Therapist primarily in Burn Trauma Care. Xavier started his career in Burn Care at the Western States Burn Center at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO from 2007-2012, where he was awarded the James R. Wheeler Award for outstanding patient care and dedication. In 2012, he joined the Burn Therapy team at University of Utah Health system in Salt Lake City, UT as the only Occupational Therapist. While at the University of Utah Health system, he started research, further enhanced his burn therapy skills and assisted in building the Occupational Therapy team from 1 to 4 members. In 2023, Xavier received his certification in hand therapy becoming one of two CHTs on the burn team. Xavier has been involved in burn care research including 3 posters and 1 co-author published article in the Journal of Burn Care and Research.  Xavier enjoys teaching his skills as a clinical instructor for Occupational Therapy students, teaching burn care at local Occupational Therapy institutions in Utah and mentoring new therapists in burn care.
