Flora Laurent

Flora Laurent, B.A., is a third year medical student at Washington University in St. Louis.

She completed her undergraduate degree in biology at Dartmouth College, where she was awarded a SMART scholarship through the US DoD. After graduating, she worked at the DoD Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory as an environmental microbiologist before pivoting to medicine.

Flora is now interested in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has recently completed a research year with Dr. Ida Fox, during which she primarily focused on information dissemination and implementation to increase knowledge of surgical treatments to increase movement in the upper limb for people with cervical spinal cord injury: tendon transfer and nerve transfer.
