Anita Uhlmann, PT, DPT

Anita Uhlmann PT, DPT specializes in the upper extremity at the Milliken Hand Rehabilitation Center, part of Washington University School of Medicine. She is a graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine Program in Physical Therapy. She also holds a Master of Music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University School of Music.

A former professional flutist, Anita’s interest in upper extremity rehabilitation was sparked during her own experience with overuse injuries. This experience informed her clinical special interests,  including rehabilitation for musicians, peripheral nerve injuries, nerve and tendon transfer rehabilitation, and management of chronic pain.

Anita currently works with St. Louis Symphony and freelance musicians in the St. Louis metro area. She is the lead therapist on a multi-center, nationwide study investigating nerve transfers to restore upper extremity function in individuals with cervical spinal cord injuries. Anita serves as therapist liaison for the Washington University Department of Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, where she consults on a wide variety of conditions and procedures. She is dedicated to education for future upper extremity therapists and is a lab assistant with the physical therapy programs at Washington University and Saint Louis University.
