Zachary Schluger, MS, OTR/L, CHT

Zachary Schluger, MS, OTR/L, CHT, is the Founder of Splintech and a Certified Hand Therapist specializing in the design and fabrication of custom 3D-printed upper extremity orthoses. He earned his Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University in 2017 and has dedicated his clinical career exclusively to hand therapy, earning his Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential in 2020. Combining extensive clinical experience with expertise in 3D scanning, computer-aided design (CAD), and additive manufacturing, Zach has developed digital workflows that enable the creation of highly customized orthoses tailored to each patient's anatomy and functional goals. His work focuses on bridging traditional hand therapy principles with emerging technologies to improve comfort, fit, function, and efficiency in orthotic fabrication. In addition to treating patients, Zach is passionate about advancing digital education within the hand therapy community. He has developed online educational resources that teach clinicians how to integrate 3D scanning, digital design, and 3D printing into clinical practice. He regularly shares his work through professional presentations, educational content, and social media, where he advocates for the thoughtful adoption of digital technologies in rehabilitation. Zach collaborates with therapists, engineers, software developers, and industry partners to refine digital workflows and expand the clinical applications of patient-specific orthoses. His current interests include parametric splint design, multi-material 3D printing, dynamic orthotic systems, and scalable digital fabrication methods that make customized orthoses more accessible to clinicians worldwide. Through his clinical practice and educational initiatives, Zach aims to help shape the future of hand therapy by empowering clinicians with practical digital tools while maintaining the patient-centered principles that define the profession.
