Sharon Montgomery, OTD, OTR/L, CHT, CEAS, CDP

Sharon Montgomery, OTD, OTR/L, CHT, CEAS, CDP is an Assistant Professor in the Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Science and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy programs at Gwynedd Mercy University. Dr. Montgomery earned her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Thomas Jefferson University, where she completed her doctoral capstone in health literacy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in the Biological Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania, a Certificate in Occupational Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University, and a Certificate in Advanced Practice in Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation from Drexel University. A Certified Hand Therapist since 1993, Dr. Montgomery is also certified in ergonomic assessment (CEAS) and dementia care (CDP). Prior to joining academia full-time, she served as an Occupational Therapy Supervisor in a hospital setting, providing both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for adults. Dr. Montgomery currently serves as Chair of the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT) Awards Committee. Her professional interests include health literacy, upper extremity rehabilitation and orthosis fabrication, occupational therapy education, and evidence-based practice.
