Samantha Tadych

Samantha Tadych is a University of Wisconsin Milwaukee graduate with her Bachelors in Middle Childhood and Early Adolescent Education. Tadych has been teaching full time for seven years and is a survivor of septic shock.

Having been a quad amputee for two years and a bilateral trans radial amputee for six, she lends an intricate patient perspective on hand therapy, rehabilitation and living independently.

When she is not modeling problem solving and critical thinking for her students, Tadych shares her stages of prosthetic devices with residents at the Medical College of Wisconsin and also serves as a peer mentor for the Amputee Coalition for complex cases.

Samantha advocates for those with limb difference by challenging herself to be visible in the community and through her illustrations. She is motivated to increase representation of people with limb difference in children’s literature and to better help children feel familiar with prosthetics and other assistive devices.
