Mia Erickson, PT, CHT, EdD

Mia Erickson, PT, CHT, EdD is a Professor and the Assistant Director of the DPT Program at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Dr. Erickson has 29 years of clinical experience as a physical therapist with the majority of her career spent as a hand and upper extremity specialist. Dr. Erickson has over 25 peer-reviewed publications, and this most recently includes the Clinical Practice Guideline for PT management of carpal tunnel syndrome published in 2019 and the revision published in 2026. She has served the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons as a member of a task force to develop Quality Measures for Physician Management of carpal tunnel syndrome and then later as a member of the AAOS carpal tunnel syndrome Guideline Development Group, serving as the only therapist on the panel. Dr. Erickson is co-author on two chapters in Rehabilitation of the Hand. She has served the hand therapy profession through the American Physical Therapy Association Academy for Hand and Upper Extremity Physical Therapy in multiple positions including Vice-President.
