Gayathri Boopathy

Gayathri Boopathy is a Ph.D. student in Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where her research focuses on immersive technologies, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and digital health. She earned her M.S. in Computer Engineering with a 4.0 GPA and received the Dean's Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Her research explores immersive XR applications and AI-integrated AR systems, leveraging wearable sensing, multimodal data analysis, spatial computing, and biomechanical modeling to develop intelligent, personalized solutions for rehabilitation, education, and assistive technologies. Through an interdisciplinary approach that bridges engineering, healthcare, and data science, she aims to advance digital health, interactive computing, and next-generation human–machine interfaces. Before pursuing her M.S. and Ph.D., she worked for over three years as a Software Developer at Infosys Equinox, gaining experience in enterprise full-stack software development. Her research interests include AR/VR/MR, smart glasses, human-computer interaction, computer vision, AI-driven rehabilitation, wearable healthcare technologies, digital twins, and immersive computing.
