Elena T. Bolin, EdD, MS, OTR, CHT

Elena T. Bolin, EdD, MS, OTR, CHT, practices full-time at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center, an OrthoIndy Practice, on the west side of Indianapolis, which operates a very large and busy therapy facility focused on rehabilitation of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Inspired to teach in the classroom and make an impact in OT, Elena received her Doctorate in Education degree in 2024 from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. In the Spring of 2024, she was asked to join the Adjunct Faculty in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program at Hanover College. She has since been an Associate Clinical Instructor and has taught as a Lab Instructor for Functional Anatomy and Orthotic Fabrication & Physical Agent Modalities. Along with being an Indiana Occupational Therapy Association member and volunteer, Elena volunteers for ASHT in the Education Division. She was in the 2026 ASHT Leadership Development Program Cohort 3, where she created a volunteer organization called Therapy Allies that empowers occupational therapists and physical therapists to give career presentations through outreach visits to schools and community events (https://sites.google.com/therapyallies.org/volunteer/home). With her Masters of Science degree in OT from the University of Indianapolis in 1999 and earning her CHT in 2005, Elena has enjoyed a very colorful career in Hand Therapy, Burn Therapy, outpatient and inpatient OT, research, school-based OT, acute and subacute rehab, academia, and even a non-traditional role as a director of health professions pathway programs in higher education to develop programming for high school students exposing them to healthcare careers. She was featured in a Membership Spotlight through the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association in June 2026 when she was nominated and honored for being an OT who has made an impact in Indiana. Elena enjoys functional fitness, yoga, hiking, and spending quality time with her family.
