David Plutschack, OTD, BCPR, CLT

David Plutschack, OTD, OTR/L, BCPR, CLT, earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Doctor of Occupational Therapy degrees from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He joined the Des Moines University Occupational Therapy Department in 2023 and has previously held academic and administrative positions within occupational therapy doctoral programs, as well as adjunct faculty appointments in athletic training and physical therapy programs. Dr. Plutschack’s clinical experience spans a variety of adult rehabilitation settings, including outpatient hand therapy, employee health and wellness, ergonomics, burn intensive care, and inpatient rehabilitation. He is Board Certified in Physical Rehabilitation by the American Occupational Therapy Association and is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. He also holds advanced training and certifications in ergonomics and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. His scholarship and research interests include upper extremity rehabilitation, ergonomics, workplace health and wellness, and the integration of emerging technologies into occupational therapy education and hand therapy practice. Dr. Plutschack is passionate about preparing the next generation of hand therapists and advancing innovative technologies that enhance both clinical practice and healthcare education.
