Additionally, Alta has presented at state conferences and has published articles, in the Journal of Hand Surgery, The Orthoplastic Surgery journal both being nationally distributed magazines for the hand and reconstructive surgery surgeons and therapists. Her training includes a wide variety of conditions, with a special interest in complex traumatic hand injuries and upper extremity amputation.

Her passion for hand therapy was born after she suffered a severe degloving injury to her left hand from a rollover motor vehicle accident. It was during those grueling yet rewarding hand therapy sessions that Alta developed her love and passion for hand therapy. Now, she has devoted her career to hand therapy and helping patients in similar situations to her own.
