Emma Screws, BA, OTS

Emma Screws, BA, OTS, is originally from Montgomery, Alabama. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Science from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2024. Emma is currently a second-year Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) student at The George Washington University, where she also serves as President of the Student Occupational Therapy Association. She works as a Clinical Ambassador for One Health Lessons and is a Research Assistant on two clinical trials focused on distal radius fractures. In addition, she is currently conducting a phenomenological study exploring the lived experiences of adolescent burn victims. Emma is presenting a scientific poster on a critically appraised paper titled, “Effect of high-intensity laser therapy and mirror therapy on complex regional pain syndrome type I in the hand area: a randomized controlled trial.” Her professional interests include pediatrics, oncology, mental health, and acute care, with a commitment to advancing occupational therapy through research-informed, client-centered practice.
